Press release, 4 February 2009
Jean-Pierre Greff, director of the Geneva University of Art and Design (HEAD), Olivier Kaeser and Jean-Paul Felley, co-directors of the Swiss Cultural Centre in Paris, are pleased to announce that the attitudes – contemporary arts space has become the new exhibition space of HEAD – Geneva, to be called Live in your head.
At the same time as it opens up new and stimulating perspectives for HEAD – Geneva, the naming of this new space pays considerable homage to the exhibition organized by the famous Swiss curator Harald Szeemann, of which it is the subtitle (When attitudes becomes form : live in your head). Held at the Kunsthalle in Berne in 1969, the exhibition broke new ground in the history of art of the second half of the 20th century by displaying the creative process and context as integral parts of the work of art.
Forty years later, Live in your head therefore intends to pursue the intellectual heritage embodied by Szeemann by showing the process of creation as developed in educational exchange situations. In each of its exhibitions, Live in your head will present, most often in experimental form, the results of the dialogue between an invited artist, HEAD – Geneva, its artist lecturers and its students.
The attitudes association, still under the directorship of Jean-Paul Felley and Olivier Kaeser, will retain its office at 4 rue du Boulet in Geneva and will continue its publishing and external exhibition organizing activities.
