Seminar: Anaïs Bloch
“Artisanal Electronics: Digital Repair Cultures” was a mini-conference we held at July 6.
After what I (Anaïs Bloch – HEAD, Geneva) gave a talk on the research Mobile Repair Culture, an ethnographic investigation of the smartphone repair practices in Switzerland. Starting by presenting the context of the project and the way we use design to gather insight, I then recalled some of the various skills smartphone technicians assemble by showing some examples of the construction and sharing of this body of knowledge amongst practitioners. This talk also highlighted the creativity that might occur in different moments of repair.
