Seminar: Jasmina Tešanović
“Artisanal Electronics: Digital Repair Cultures” was a mini-conference we held at July 6.
Jasmina Tešanović (Casa Jasmina, Torino) talked about the lived experience of being in Casa Jasmina, a house project she and Bruce founded in Torino where people are invited to revisit, hijack, and improve electronics stuff. This project aimed at questioning the relationship we entertain with domestic objects by making them answer other types of needs and values. She then presented a workshop during which women were invited to rethink the role of connected objects. This was the starting point of her ‘Internet Woman of Things’ Manifesto. Casa Jasmina ‘the smart home of the future’ (to take her words) is a project to rethink the very idea of IoT objects.
