Nazhat Shameem Khan is the first Permanent Representative of the Republic of Fiji to the United Nations Office in Geneva, since the opening of its new Permanent Mission in May 2014. She was Fiji’s chief negotiator during the 2017 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Bonn (COP23), while her country held the presidency of the event. + plus In that context, Ambassador Khan participated in implementing a facilitative dialogue process and a participatory Internet portal inspired by the traditional « Talanoa » from the Pacific Islands – a storytelling process leading to consensus-building and decision-making. This process intends both to facilitate the discussions among the parties, and to gather very diverse testimonies about climate change impacts and solutions worldwide.
