conferences

The international, cross-disciplinary conference Anthroposcreams, Desert(ed) Destinations and Wilding Weather – Wish You Were Here was held November 8-10, 2018, at HEAD – Genève. Initiated by the UK-based nomadic research community “Terror on Tour,” and co-organized by TAAG Project Director Gene Ray (HEAD – Genève), TAAG advisory research group member Gabriella Calchi Novati (C.G. Jung Institute, Zurich), Andrew Wilford (University of Chichester, UK), and Paul Antick (University of Roehampton, UK), the conference gathered 30 artists, philosophers, geographers, anthropologists, visual culture studies scholars, science and technology studies scholars, and performance studies scholars for three days of presentations and discussions focused on the social signs and cultural politics of the so-called Anthropocene. TAAG researchers Aurélien Gamboni and Janis Schroeder presented the The Anthropocene Atlas of Geneva to the conference and research community. Speakers and panels were introduced by graduate students of the CCC Research-based Master Programme at HEAD – Genève. Following a call for papers, all submissions were reviewed and selected by all members of the organizing committee. An edited, peer-reviewed volume of selected and revised papers will follow. A PDF of the conference brochure, with schedule, speaker bios, and paper abstracts, can be accessed here.

The Anthropocene Atlas of Geneva was a TAAG-organized three-day international symposium that took place at HEAD – Genève on October 18-20, 2017. The symposium, which included one day of presentations open to the general public, gathered the TAAG research group (Gene Ray, Aurélien Gamboni, Janis Schroeder, and Kate Stevenson) and TAAG advisory research group members (Iain Boal, David Cross, Sacha Kagan, Armin Linke, Nils Norman, Catherine Quéloz, and Liliane Schneiter) to preview the developing TAAG website, participate in four video interviews, and critically discuss the conceptual and self-reflexive positioning of the project. TAAG researchers Aurélien Gamboni, Janis Schroeder, and Kate Stevenson presented the TAAG website and project to the symposium and general public.
