This exhibition presents the works of 14 student artists from HEAD’s Bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts, who are currently studying in the ‘Chroma’ department, formerly known as Representation. The eponymous title of this exhibition at Wisteria is both a tribute to the department’s former name and a way of reaffirming that the concept of representation that lies at the heart of the educational challenges inherent in pictorial practices. The corollary of this concept is the emergence of the artistic singularities and identities of the students in the department, through a broad and multifaceted conception of pictoriality.

In a world inundated with images, Painting faces a particularly fruitful paradox: it is both a reflection of the contemporary cultural, media and economic forces external to it, and an autonomous, tangible object, defined by its own material limits with its distinct historical legacy. In a modern digital economy that capitalises on human subjectivity, painting has become the ultimate luxury commodity.

The exhibition Représentation offers a non-exhaustive insight into the philosophy behind the Chroma department, championed by Niels Trannois, Camille Sevez, Vidya Gastaldon, Valérie Mannaerts, Émilie Ding, Nicolas Chardon, Fabrice Stroun and Cédric Fauq, through a selection of works by Elena Biasco, Leo Dorner, Hanaé Gonseth, Emma Hayoz, Jeremy Kangou, Inès Lehrian, Maude Lueber, Math Maeder, Ewan Mesa, Aylin Özer, Audrey Ramos, Luna Rauck, Gabriel Varanda and Helena Zivkovic.
